This year’s conference theme is “Be the Change”. We will be thinking about ourselves as practitioners and how we can reflect upon our own practice to create positive change – both in our own work and in supporting Chinese as a subject beyond the classroom with real-world applications. We will also consider demands of assessment and curriculum and think about how we can incorporate those into our approaches to teaching Chinese more generally.

We are looking forward to hosting workshops from expert teachers of Mandarin on a range of topics, including…

  • Independent research skills
  • The future of new Chinese curricula
  • Alternative assessment methods
  • Reflective teaching
  • High-quality SEND teaching in the Mandarin classroom
  • Making classroom learning relevant to the real-world

…and much more.

Over the coming months, we will be sharing a series of interviews on our website with the teachers behind the workshops, granting insight into a few of the ideas that will be explored in more detail at the conference. So, please keep an eye out for these.

We also look forward to hosting fantastic school performances, celebrating the work of our teacher training programme participants, and providing an opportunity to all attendees to network with fellow professionals in the Mandarin teaching and learning community. Exhibitors will also be showcasing their Chinese language- related learning materials and services.

We offer reduced rates for students, part-time, primary school and retired teachers.

A programme is now available for the day.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday 1st October.
