
We are now accepting applications from schools interested in joining the IOE Confucius Classroom network.
Schools that are interested in becoming an IOE Confucius Classrooms will be expected to:
- Deliver Mandarin Chinese on curriculum with a locally employed teacher in post
- Have a development plan for the delivery of Chinese teaching for the school that has Headteacher approval
- Be committed to develop Chinese in the local area through work with other schools, and where applicable with CLEC teachers
- Be committed to sharing expertise and materials by convening regional networking meetings twice a year
- Be willing to host an IOE Chinese PGCE student
- Contribute towards future data capture as required e.g. Chinese exam results, student numbers and annual IOE CI Confucius Classroom data capture
- Submit an annual budget application and delivery plan going forward (if the application is successful).
Schools joining the IOE Confucius Classroom network may benefit from:
- Annual funding to support the development of Mandarin provision
- The possibility of receiving support from a Mandarin teaching assistant, subject to availability
- Membership of a wider network of schools committed to developing Mandarin education
- Advice and support from the IOE Confucius Institute both generally and when applying for relevant funding
- Possible support for students interested in taking part in a gap-year study programme in China
