Yesterday headteachers and their designated Confucius Classroom Managers joined us from schools across the country for the annual IOE Confucius Classroom planning meeting.
So what are IOE Confucius Classrooms and what do they do?
IOE Confucius Classrooms are mainstream schools in England that serve as designated centres of excellence in teaching Mandarin Chinese. They are schools with Mandarin embedded in their curriculum and they are committed to helping other schools develop their own Mandarin provision through regional meetings and outreach programmes.
Where are they? Is there one near me?
Check out the map and find contact details on the IOE Confucius Classroom webpage.
Can my school become an IOE Confucius Classroom?
If your school fits the criteria and your headteacher would like to apply for IOE Confucius Classroom status in the future, please write to us at chinesenetworks@ioe.ac.uk. Please note that there are no vacancies at the time of writing. We will notify schools that have expressed an interest as soon as the next round of applications opens.
