A Chinese Teaching Materials Workshop

The IOE Confucius Institute for Schools is holding two teacher training events for speakers of Chinese who are interested in learning how to teach Chinese to school-age students or improve their existing skills. The events will combine the expertise of experienced teachers, trainers and authors of the popular textbooks;they will provide participants with guidance on classroom teaching of Chinese language and culture.

Content:
The focus of the events will be on the effective use of course books. The sessions will cover teaching resources analysis, lesson planning, strategies in teaching Chinese characters, embedding culture into the language lesson and other aspects of teaching Chinese as a foreign language in schools in England. The participants will have access to popular textbooks including Jinbu, Edexcel GCSE for Chinese, and the resources published by Hanban; Chinese Paradise, Kuaile Hanyu, Learn Chinese with me, and New Practical Chinese Reader.

North: Upton Hall School, Merseyside, Saturday 8 December 2012
London: Institute of Education, University of London, Friday 14th and Saturday 15 December 2012
Lunch will be provided.
Please note that you are welcome to attend one or both training days in London should you wish to do so. The content will differ on both days.

Cost:
As Hanban have generously agreed to subsidise the events, both events will be free of charge.
