Mandarin in Hull – From vision to reality

Andrew
Andrew Chubb

Andrew Chubb

Andrew Chubb is a man with a vision. He has campaigned tirelessly to develop Chinese throughout his career in various state schools.

He first introduced Chinese in his previous school back in 1996, and in 2008 he became Principal of Archbishop Sentamu Academy (ASA) in Hull. ASA now teaches Mandarin on curriculum from Year 7 through to sixth form and supports Mandarin Chinese in six local primary schools.

Together with his team and through partner schools in Beijing Andrew has led ASA in becoming a centre of excellence for Mandarin – a source of inspiration and support not just for schools in Yorkshire but for schools across the UK and overseas.

How has he achieved this? What did he do and why? What advice does he have for my school?
