For several years the British Film Institute have held film and language days for KS3 French, German and Spanish. This year they are pioneering a Mandarin day, which will be compiled and facilitated by James Trapp using short clips from films as diverse as Raise the Red Lantern, Beijing Bicycle, Suzhou River and House of Flying Daggers as teaching aids for cinematic, cultural and linguistic investigation. In the afternoon, the whole of Zhang Yimou’s delightful film Not One Less – 一个都不能少 will be shown. It promises to be very entertaining and informative.
