Firstly, a fantastic article here about Hove Park School’s experience this summer on our hugely successful Annual Student Camps in China. The article describes how Hove Park students immersed themselves in Mandarin at Heilongjiang University, trawled the night market, saw giant pandas and of course, paid a visit to Tiananmen Square on their Chinese adventure.

It was the first time Hove Park School participated in an Annual Student Camps trip and feedback was hugely positive with Hove Park’s Kate Griffin saying:

“This was a once in a lifetime experience for the students and I’m sure they will never forget their time in China. Their Mandarin skills have definitely improved as has their confidence in using the language in situ.”

Here’s to an equally successful trip in 2016!

In other good news, in Chester the Queen’s School continue their excellent work with students starting Mandarin from Reception onwards. Headmistress of the Lower School Mrs Cookson explains:

“Research and our own experience has shown us how receptive primary pupils are to learning new languages… The benefits are enormous – learning languages early enriches and enhances children’s mental development so that they more fully understand not just other languages but their own and other cultures too. We are very excited about this new programme.”
