Last week on Thursday 11th and Friday 12th January, we welcomed 70 Hanban teachers from our 45 Confucius Classrooms to come to London for a series of teacher training workshops and a team dinner. The training took place at the IOE main building and included workshops on Chinese resources, classrooms activities, making listening exercises more dynamic, as well as Hanban teacher performances, among many other things. The teachers were also lucky enough to be given a lecture by well-renowned writer and associate professor at Nankai University, Xiong Peiyun 熊培云.
The Hanban teachers found the training extremely useful as it gave them different ideas
to use in their classroom, as well as introducing them to the large number of resources that are available to them and other teachers of Chinese. They were particularly interested in the IOE CI’s Edublog site which has many ideas for lesson plans and student projects. The training is also an excellent opportunity for all the teachers to get together and socialise with each other at the Hanban teacher dinner, which is always a very fun evening with delicious food and lots of catching up.
Thank-you to our National Networks Coordinator, Xiaoming Zhu and Hanban Teacher Chinese Director, Shi Jing for creating an informative and fun two days of training which the Hanban teachers learn a lot from.
