Pre U Events

After a very successful event at Trinity School in December 2014, we are now pleased to announce that we are able to offer two separate events in support of Mandarin Pre U teachers, looking to find strategies to teach the Culture Paper (Paper 4). These events are being held to help Mandarin language teachers with different approaches to the Pre U Culture Paper (Paper 4), presented by teachers who have had experience and success in delivering the Pre U course in their schools. Participants are welcome to book for one or both events, but please only book if you are certain you are able to participate, as we anticipate demand will be high for places.

Event 1: Wednesday 18th May, UCL IOE (London)

For this event, we are delighted to welcome Ruairi Garvey (Oundle School) and Xiaoming Sun (Ibstock Place School) to UCL IOE. Both Ruairi and Xiaoming have substantial experience in teaching the Pre U culture paper, and participants will have the opportunity to hear from both of them about their approaches both in the classroom and within their schools, work in small groups on tasks, share best practice and obtain a wealth of resource material to take back to the classroom.

Event 2: Monday 27th June, Upton Hall School (Wirral, Merseyside)

With the kind support of the teachers at Upton Hall, we are pleased to offer an opportunity to participate in a day’s event at Upton Hall School. With input from their Head of Mandarin, Zhou Hu, and members of their Geography and History departments, this day will present participants with ideas of how to approach the culture paper, and ways in which they can work with other departments to ensure success.

***Please note, these events are NOT official CIE events, do not offer the same focus as the CIE event in April, and are not intended to be seen as a substitute.***
