Chinese Proficiency Test UK Committee has been engaged in the implementation and promotion of the Chinese proficiency tests and the Chinese language teaching in the UK since 1998. In addition, the scope of work of Centre for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) UK & Chinese Proficiency Test UK Committee also includes Chinese teacher training, the running of CTCSOL (Certificate of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages) tests, annual ‘Chinese Bridge’ Chinese Proficiency Competitions for UK university, secondary and primary school students, the pan-European dispatch and delivery of Chinese textbooks and teaching materials, the issue and management of the Certificate of Sponsorship for China-dispatched Co-directors, Qualified Mandarin teachers and Volunteer Mandarin teachers to the UK Confucius Institutes and other organisations who have entered teacher exchange programme with CLEC, and researches on Chinese language teaching and learning in the UK and Europe. The overall work of both organisations has been propelling the sustained development of Chinese language teaching in the UK and Europe in wide angels and at multi-levels.

Cypress Books, established in 1984 and is in west London, combining office and warehousing logistics. As the largest wholesale and retail distributor of Chinese and China-themed publications in the UK, it primarily focuses on the import and export of books, as well as publishing.
We offer a wide range of Chinese textbooks, supplementary materials, and audiovisual publications. With a substantial inventory, we can respond quickly to orders. Our online bookstore is rich in information and allows for online orders.
Additionally, we have stores on the Amazon platform in 10 European countries to cater to customers across Europe.
We are also associated with Guanghwa Bookshop, which is located in London’s Chinatown. It is the only physical bookstore in the UK dedicated to Chinese publications.

GoChinese-Gowell Software Limited, is an online language platform offering a wide range of resources for UK schools, from primary to GCSE, IB, A level and HSK. All learning materials in GoChinese are customised to match your school’s teaching progression – and are stand-alone courses or supplementary resources supporting popular textbooks. Teachers and students can also upload their own lessons and exercises into the platform, for which voice, Pinyin and definitions are automatically generated. With GoChinese, students just click on or highlight directly on the text to hear the Mandarin voice and point the cursor on any word to view its English definition. Newman Prize for English Jueju
Newman Prize for English Jueju, bring Classical Chinese poetry to life with the Newman Prize for English Jueju and JuejuPath, a free, secure learning platform designed for classrooms. At JuejuPath, students advance through five “gates” inspired by the Chinese imperial examination system, building cultural competence and earning badges as they learn to write regulated jueju (近体绝句), rhyme, tonal patterning, parallelism, imagery, and the relationship between feeling (qing) and scene (jing). Teacher dashboards make it easy for instructors to track their student progress and award course credit if desired. Students who complete all five gates earn a “ Newman Jinshi/進士” certificate, publish their English jueju on the site, and gain the right to vote for the international Newman Prize for English Jueju. The program connects learners across ten countries in a community of creativity, self-cultivation, academic achievement, and friendly competition. The winning poets receive a $500 award from the University of Oklahoma, and a bronze medallion inscribed with their name. Best of all, participation is completely free for teachers and students.
