The IOE Confucius Institute 22nd Annual Chinese Teaching Conference will take place on Saturday 11th October 2025 at IOE, UCL’s Faculty of Education and Society in London.
Recognising dynamic learning environments and aligned with this year’s conference theme “Evolving Classrooms – Adapting Methods of Mandarin Teaching to Keep Pace with Changing Contexts”, the day will offer a range of CPD workshops, keynote speeches and plenary discussions. There will be opportunities to network with Chinese teaching colleagues, discuss current teaching materials with leading Mandarin resource-making companies in our Exhibition Hall and enjoy outstanding student speeches and performances.
This year’s plenaries include a panel discussion with some of the authors of ‘Ha Ha! Britain’ and an analysis of how students remember Chinese characters. Aspects of Mandarin teaching covered by our workshop presenters will include inspiration and guidance on using AI effectively, motivating students to write Chinese characters, strategies for behaviour management, making best use of Chinese Language Assistants and ideas for fun student-led activities.
