2024 Annual Chinese Teaching Conference: Call for Workshop Proposals

This year the IOE CI Annual Chinese Teaching Conference will take place on Saturday October 19th. We are now inviting workshop proposals on this year’s conference theme of “New Perspectives: New Horizons (新观点,新视野). The 2024 annual Chinese teaching conference will be focused on thinking ahead to the next steps needed to make Chinese a long-term, sustainable language option for schools. At the 20th annual conference last year, we reflected on what has been achieved so far. In this year, the 21st conference, we want to look ahead and consider how to sustain our achievements with innovative methods and thinking.  To guide your thinking, we have listed thematic strands below, however we are happy to receive any teacher-led proposal on any area of interest suitable to share with the wider teaching community.

Guidance for workshop proposals

Please submit all proposals using the following link:

Proposals should be brief (100- 250 words) and include the following:

(Please note: free entry to the conference on the day of presentation will only be granted to ONE presenter per workshop. Any other presenters will have to purchase a ticket. We do not encourage workshop proposals with more than two presenters)

Workshop sessions are provisionally scheduled for 50 minutes and should include sufficient time for questions and answers.

The selection panel will favour workshop proposals that:

We would like to encourage anyone with an idea to submit a proposal and warmly welcome submissions from all stages and backgrounds.

Please note: proposals to advertise commercial products or services will not be considered for the main conference sessions. Any commercial organisation wishing to submit a proposal will be asked to name a school/ teacher as the main presenter, and the workshop must be based on classroom teaching/ school-based experience.

Exhibition packages will be available.
