Enhance your Chinese language skills this summer

We are excited to announce a new two-week course in China for non-native, proficient speakers of Mandarin. The Language Enhancement Course is for experienced teachers of Chinese who are teaching in UK schools to develop your language skills further.

shanghai-chinaImmerse yourself again this summer in a native-speaking environment with the culturally rich surroundings of Shanghai. Join experts at East China Normal University (ECNU), to enhance your language subject knowledge for both the classroom and everyday life.

Course includes:

  • Strong focus on pronunciation and tone, as well as developing writing skills
  • Teaching methodology for Mandarin
  • Lectures and talks delivered in Chinese
  • Ample opportunities to get into the “real world” in Shanghai and practise your Mandarin in everyday situations.

Expert teachers from ECNU and the UCL IOE Confucius Institute are collaborating on the planning and delivery of this course to ensure that you will be studying relevant and challenging material.


This course is generously subsidised by Hanban. Participants will cover the costs of their own airfare, food, visa costs and travel insurance. All other costs, including tuition fee, teaching resources, accommodation and some organised excursions are covered by Hanban.
